Families explore scientific topics through museum collections, observation, experimentation, arts and crafts. Club meetings take place Sundays at 3:00pm

September:  Amazing Animal Senses
Sight, sound, smell, taste, and touch—those are the five senses, right?  What about electrolocation, chemoreception, and infrared vision?  Come learn about the amazing ways animals experience the world, from the scallop with 100 eyes to the super-smelling shark.

October:  Spooky and Spectacular: Creepy Creatures and their Marvelous Mysteries Bats, owls, black cats, creepy-crawly bugs, Oh My!  Many of the animals traditionally associated with Halloween can give you the heebie-jeebies.  But why?  Come investigate some of the museums “scariest” specimens and find out how cool these critters really are!

November:  The Incredible Cornucopia
Apple pie, candied yams, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes with gravy… Many people look forward to Thanksgiving dinner.  Find out what was actually eaten on that first Thanksgiving, and how this epic supper evolved to become the gastronomical giant it is.

December:  Cool Crystals & Outrageous Rocks
Around this time of year, people start getting excited for snow!  If you’ve seen a snowflake up close, you might guess that a snowflake is a kind of crystal—and you’d be right!  Find out how snowflake crystals are formed and be privy to a special viewing of some of the Museum’s most impressive mineral specimens.
