community-wide celebration of the Museum’s past, present, and future. The
Museum, often called
“The People’s University,”
has been an exciting resource and learning experience for New England
families since 1896. Celebrate 113 years of the Museum as
The People’s University…and
help to forge its future!
Special Community Day Happenings
“The People’s University” Tour Through Time
Offered at 12:30pm and 3:00pm
Immerse yourself in the Museum’s heritage with a guided museum tour, vault tour to see the other 98% of the museum’s collections hidden from public view, and a
Museum picture walk. Refreshments and pizza donated by Superior Bakery will be
served following the 3:00pm Tour.
Children under 4 not permitted on the tours.
Sky Views Planetarium Show
Offered at 2:00pm
Discover the patterns of stars visible in the night sky and what you might see tonight from your own backyard, featuring multi-media enhancements.

Visit our memory station to share your museum memories!
Each visitor must bring one canned good for free
admission. Canned goods will be donated to the RI Community Food Bank
