No Tuesday Trash Collection in Providence

Garbage and recycling collection is again postponed in Providence tomorrow, Tuesday, October 30, and yard waste pickup is suspended until next week.

Garbage and recycling will be collected across the city with a condensed pickup schedule from Wednesday through Saturday.

Trash and recycling will be collected this week with a one day delay with a potential for collection to extend to the following day:

  • Residents who have collection on Monday put out trash and recycling Tuesday evening to be collected on Wednesday.
  • Residents who have collection on Tuesday put out trash and recycling Tuesday evening to be collected by Thursday.
  • Residents who have collection on Wednesday put out trash and recycling Wednesday evening to be collected on Thursday.
  • Residents who have collection on Thursday put out trash and recycling Thursday evening to be collected on Friday.
  • Residents who have collection on Friday put out trash and recycling Friday evening to be collected on Saturday.

The South Water Street flood gate has been closed and portions of India Street are closed in advance of the storm surge that will hit Providence during high tide this evening at about 8 p.m.

All activities in the city's parks and recreation centers remain closed and programs and events are cancelled for tomorrow, including the Roger Williams Park Zoo Jack-o-Lantern Spectacular, the Roger Williams Park Botanical Center, and all recreation centers in the city. The North Burial Ground was closed at noon today.

Mayor Angel Taveras will hold a press conference today, Monday, October 29 at 4 p.m. to provide a full storm update in Providence. The press conference will be held at Providence's Emergency Operations Center at 591 Charles Street.
