Victor, a wonderful adult male stray was picked up by Providence Animal Control on September 2, 2001. Victor, was a beautiful, long haired Retriever mix with a friendly disposition. Although Victor needed fattening up and a good bath, both Animal Control and Volunteer Services for Animals believed Victor would be quickly adopted. Well, after two weeks, Victor was still there and everybody wondered why?

Victor was fattened up and sent off to the groomers. His photo was placed on both the internet and in the Pet Corner of The Providence Journal. Victor even went on television on VSA 's Pick A Pet, on Channel 10, on Saturday mornings. Alas, two weeks later Victor was still there. Maybe his all black coat didn't show up well behind a cage? After-all, Victor needed space to strut his beauty. Maybe he was too large and always passed over for the smaller dog next to him? Maybe he was just waiting for that perfect owner? Whatever the reason, and we'll never know, Victor waited and waited and waited....

Then on January 31, 2001 , after almost 4 months in the shelter, that perfect owner showed up. It was love at first sight for both and Victor was adopted!

Victor won the victory of survival and now has a new owner and a loving home. Guess these two were meant to be together - Victor's new owner's name, after-all, is Victor!
