COZY - KOSI
What do you do with a seven month old., ten pound Shih-Tzu with a crushed leg? Well, you take her to The Providence Animal Control Center to be put down - Right? Wrong!
Well, that's exactly what happened to Kosi on a Saturday afternoon in late October. Kosi's original owners did not have the money for the expensive surgery and felt that destroying the dog was their only option. Upon taking Kosi to the animal control center, The volunteer's intervened and offered funds for the medical bills. Unfortunately; the owners were not willing to take on the added time and work involved and still wanted Kosi to be put down. Thanks to volunteer's , the owners were convinced to relinquish ownership, and Kosi was placed in foster care within the hour. The delicate surgery was performed the following week where two permanent pins were placed in Kosi's rear leg. She was expected to be confined to a cage for 6 -12 weeks, followed by canine physical therapy for 4 - 6 weeks. It wasn't easy for Kosi. After all, she was a puppy and wanted to play. Kosi came through with flying colors and healed much faster than the doctors expected. Since the foster care volunteer administered physical therapy on Kosi, calling in a professional was no longer necessary. Well, it's now January, and aside from a slight ear infection (now healed), and additional surgery for spaying, Kosi is doing just fine. But how hard is it to put a dog up for adoption after you've cared for her for three months? VERY! Kosi is now living with her foster care mom permanently, along with two other rescue dogs from the Providence Animal Control Center. Kosi is now truly Cozy in her new home! Nameless
