Recycling

• Place two (2) water proof recycling containers out with the City issued Big Green Can, one for bottles and cans and the other for paper goods.
  
• All bins must be left out until your City issued Big Green Can has been emptied by Waste Management.
  
• If you own or rent an apartment in a multi-family home, each City issued Big Green Can placed at the curb must be accompanied by two (2) water proof recycling containers.
  
• If you own or rent an apartment in a multi-family home each Big Green Can and water proof recycling container should be marked with a unit or apartment number.
  
• Any large/ bulky items or Electrical Waste will be picked up by appointment only.

Residents may purchase recycling containers at the Department of Public Works, 700 Allens Avenue, Providence, RI 02905 or use their own water proof containers clearly marked "recycling".

Bulky Item and Electronic Waste (E-waste)

You can have large, bulky items (i.e. couches, appliances, large toys, mattresses and TV's) picked up for free by following these easy steps:

• Call Waste Management at least 24 hours before your regularly scheduled trash collection day to request a bulky item or e-waste pick-up 1-800-972-4545.
  
• Describe the item (s) you are calling to have picked up, limit three (3) items per collection day.
  
• Place the items at the curb no earlier than 4pm on the day before your regular trash collection day.
  
• Follow these instructions for E- Waste pick-up or bring your unwanted e-waste to the e-waste pods located in the parking lot of Public Works at 700 Allens Avenue from 8:30am to 4:30pm, Monday thru Saturday.

Any item that does not fit in your City issued Big Green Can is considered a bulky item and must be scheduled for pick up.
